IAM&AW/WYMAN GORDON Update
From
your Negotiating Committee Hector Herrera, Kenneth Jackson, Henry Ray Edwards,
Jason Calhoun, Local Lodge President Keith Stanberry, and your chief
negotiators Grand Lodge Representative Brother James Parker and DBR Brother
Byron Williams.
We
are deep into the economics of your contract. We’re working to negotiate
General Wage Increases to reflect the increased cost of living our families
experience, as well as keeping health care premium costs contained.
The
company has made a proposal concerning job bidding that unfairly complicates
the process, and we have spent time on those discussions.
We
have been successful in moving the company off several major takeaways they
proposed, but there are several issues still on the table. The worst from the
company is a proposal to not give any pension to new hires. They have not
budged on this. If they are successful in this proposal, in the next
negotiations they will attempt to end OUR pensions. So this is a fight for EVERYONE’S
pension.
As
you see, we have a long ways to go before we can have a contract that you can
accept.
Now
is the time we need your support more than ever. Tell your supervisor you
support your Committee in these negotiations, and you demand a fair and
equitable contract. Tell them to keep their hands off our pensions! Your voice
on the shop floor is what we need in these last few days at the table.
Solidarity is what it takes!
Please
continue to monitor the website for updated information concerning these
negotiations.
